#11221 'Santa Fe Harvest'

Welcome to White Tideline Designs, handcrafted jewelry-as-art! Each piece is designed and handmade by me in my San Francisco Bay Area studio.

Never having been to Santa Fe, NM yet...I have fantasies of what the place must be like and how it must feel. I remember an old friend (and also a Whirling Dervish from Istanbul) telling me of the energy center in and around Santa Fe, NM similar to those found in Turkiye and the ancient settlements found in Cappadocia, in particular. This design reminds me of the energy of the earth and universe all collapsing together in great bands of glorious colors of the golden harvest. The good harvest when earth offers up her bounty...

'Santa Fe Harvest' is created around the stunning lampwork beads of three studio glass artists. Nellie Mae of Australia creates the focal set used in the piece. I discovered her work a month or so ago and nearly lost my breath. What she does with color is amazing and her beads seem to tell a story or, in any case, one cannot help but weave a story as one works with her beads.

The beads of 'Santa Fe Harvest' are the warm, swirling, whirling colors of the golden autumn. It is the sunsets, the cosmos above, the desert and high plateau. Nellie Mae casts a spell with her glasswork and she couches her designs under a gorgeous thick layer of clear glass which adds depth and further purpose to her colors beneath. Extraordinary work.

The stunning lampwork beads are surrounded by striking beads in complementary colors of the autumn & harvest. I have used chips of Baltic Amber, Swarovski Cosmos, Bicone, Pearl & faceted cubes. Also, faceted round Swarovski crystal alongside stunning lampwork acorn beads created by yet another glass artist from Australia. Thai Hilltribe sterling leaf beads complete the theme of harvest, sitting beside the amber colored acorns. 3-D petaled flowers made by a third studio glass artist add even more dimension to the piece. Sculpted clay roses by published clay artist
D. Jean Vainio continue the staid elegance of the bracelet. A sterling Santa Fe Pueblo charm dangles from one end of the bracelet, pulling together the theme of the Southwest in the glow of Autumn's light. Finally, an ornate sterling Bali silver toggle completes the bracelet which measures about 7.5 inches and can be resized at no additional charge.

This piece would look perfect with some of the fashions from the Sundance catalog clothing shop - the leather-worn, tall riding boots, 501's and a tucked-in white shirt with a bandana round' the neck. Very Southwest.
